Alabama anti-immigration law proves costly

The Huffington Post reports that "After confusion and misgivings from some police about how to enforce Alabama's new immigration crackdown, the state is now requiring special training in the law for more than 16,000 law officers – every sworn officer in the state". Doing the math, at 4 hours per person, that is 64,000 paid hours. Even if the officers were paid $20/hr (which is unlikely) that is $1,280,000 that could have been better spent on, say, educating Alabama's English learning children, rather than persecuting them and their families. Just a thought.
